Malcolm Kenyatta running for State Rep. 181st District

From The Philadelphia Tribune December 15, 2017:

Malcolm Kenyatta, the grandson of civil rights activist Muhammad Kenyatta, on Thursday kicked off his campaign for Pennsylvania State Representative for the 181st Legislative District.

“Malcolm Kenyatta is one of the leaders of the new wave of young, passionate and committed leaders that Philadelphia and Pennsylvania need,” said former Gov. Ed Rendell, co-chair of Kenyatta’s campaign. “It’s time to take back our government from the special interests, and Malcolm has the ability to do just that.”

A third-generation North Philadelphian and a graduate of Temple University, Kenyatta plans to bring his own background of fierce community advocacy and political activism to serving the district, which covers parts of North and North Central Philadelphia, West Poplar, Glenwood, Yorktown, Francisville, Northern Liberties and Kensington.

Kenyatta was elected as a delegate for Hillary Clinton to the 2016 Democratic Convention (PA 2nd), receiving nearly 82,000 votes — the second highest vote total of any delegate in the Commonwealth. On local and national media outlets, he has addressed systemic poverty, making education more affordable, and making government more accountable to its citizens, especially disadvantaged, low-income families.
